Wednesday - January 15, 2025 We started off the day by sewing and making adjustments to our fabrics and outfits. In the morning, we brought from home any extra accessories that would be needed for our outfit’s theme. We also got extra accessories from amazon that were delivered and we paired it with each person’s design. In the afternoon, we discussed make-up and hair looks for each person’s design. After this discussion, half of us moved on to working on our outfits, while the other half tested with different make-up styles that they could potentially use for the runway.

Day 5: Camila

Hi, this was our fifth day of J-Term and our first Monday! In the morning Rose sang a beautiful happy birthday song for me (Camila), which was very good. A few minutes later Ms. Lucarini and Ms. White came in to help everyone continue or start sewing. A couple of other people and I were starting to pin our pattern pieces together and sewing different parts to attach them. I also finished bedazzling my top for my skirt. Madeline, Eveyln, and Kenna made lot’s of progress with their jackets and were sewing the different patches of fabric on them or cutting out the shapes. We got a ten minute break and then continued working. After lunch Ms. Lucarini and Ms. White stayed to help everyone out. I made a lot of progress with my skirt during the afternoon, and Rose had also finished most of her dress. I think in the next day or two everyone should be done since we got a lot of things out of the way. Last but not least we also watched some episodes of Project Runway and are almost finishe...

Day Four: Gio

Hi everybody! It's Gio here to inform you how everything is going. On Friday, we got started on our looks. Having time and space is the theme for our overall collection; we emphasized learning how to patch and stitch. While others thrifted and pieced together their outfits, some have opted to make their outfits from scratch. We finished the first season of Project Runway and have started season two. Most of today was spent working on our projects while gaining a plan for our presentation to the school and the parents.

Day 3: Caroline

Happy Thursday! Today was the third day of J Term. This morning, we practiced sewing while watching season one of Project Runway. This afternoon, we went to JOANN to get supplies for our runway looks. We bought thread, fabric, patterns, gemstones, hooks, fabric glue, and other resources. Even though we went to the largest JOANN in Houston, we struggled to find the patterns that we wanted and had to improvise. Ms. Lucarini was sick today so her friend, Ms. White, met us at the store instead. Since our runway theme is celestial decades, most of us chose blue and silver fabrics. Surprisingly, we were extremely under budget because of discounts, which is great! Now that we have our supplies, we plan on beginning our sewing projects tomorrow!

Day 2 - Rose

Hello hello everybody! Rose is reporting the happenings of the Fashion J Term to all of yall! This morning it was super duper cold so I was very happy to be inside all day. We started our day by splitting into two groups and looking at collections by John Galliano. As what seems to be the case with a lot of fashion designers, he's a very problematic person - but man can that dude make an outfit! The collection my group looked at was Spring 2003, which was very bold, to say the least. We spent a long time analyzing the influences of the collection and analyzing their translation into the designs, focusing on the cohesion the pieces had with each other. Our group presented to the class, and we listened to the other groups presentation on their collection. Afterwards, we shared our moodboards, collages, and sketches of our own designs and talked as a group about the goals and themes of our collaborative collection. I'm not gonna spoil anything just yet, but make sure to expect pl...
